Fresh, evocative, and original Americana
Call it New Americana. Thinking person’s rock and roll. As if Steely Dan were from the South. Southerner Guy Story has channeled influences ranging from Wilco to the Beatles to the Allman Brothers to Talking Heads to, yes, Steely Dan, into an original sound, both familiar but yet new – rich with grooves, melodic, catchy and endlessly listenable.
Storytown is the creation of Guy Story, born and bred in Mississippi and now living in NYC. Guy spent more than three decades embedded in the technology industry, working for Bell Laboratories, Amazon, and as the founding CTO at Audible. He had an early footprint in startup culture and digital media.
Storytown songs show an innate understanding of how great pop songs work—lyrics that match the emotional heft of the music and arrangements where no sound goes to waste. Each song is an individual journey.
